Please oppose SB0664 - CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT - A BILL ENTITLED AN ACT concerning Declaration of Rights – Right to Privacy. Read the bill here. To contact your legislators, take action HERE or go to https://www.mdrtl.org/takeaction.html.
Maryland Right to Life is assisting those who wish to submit written testimony or to participate in a panel speaking in opposition to the bill. The hearing is scheduled for the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee on Wednesday, March 11 at 12:00 PM. Contact Julie Biosatti at Maryland Right to Life for more information.
Last year Delegate Michael Busch had planned to introduce legislation which sought to enshrine abortion rights in the state’s constitution, but he withdrew the legislation. All indications were that he planned to reintroduce it in 2020, but he passed away on April 7, 2019. This year's bill, SB664, sponsored by Senator Lee (District 16) is an attempt to bring this issue back into play.
From Maryland Right to Life, "NARAL and Planned Parenthood have lobbied states across the country to create state 'constitutional rights to privacy' - enshrining abortion-on-demand through birth and with guaranteed public funding. Federal and state courts have consistently held that a constitutional right to 'privacy' includes a woman's right to have an abortion." To uphold the dignity of life, beginning at conception, this bill must be opposed.

Maryland Right to Life provided expert panelists on Friday, February 28 in Annapolis as the Physician Assisted Suicide bill (SB0701) was heard in the Senate Judicial Proceedings committee for the first time. Those who testified in opposition to Physician Assisted Suicide upheld the dignity of life until natural death and explained the dangers of the bill for ALL Marylanders. Watch the hearing HERE. Continue to oppose this legislation by contacting your legislators. The toll of abortion cannot be measured. We hear estimates of almost 50 million innocent victims, but that’s only one aspect of the harm that has unfolded in abortion’s wake. There are also the mothers and fathers of these millions, as well as the grandparents, brothers and sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins. Unborn lives destroyed. Lives of the living shattered.
Lord, we ask for the strength, courage, wisdom, determination and stamina to carry out this mission according to Your will. Guide us, we pray, as we go forth and proclaim Your truth, always doing so with a spirit of love and compassion, as was demonstrated to us through the work of Your Son, Jesus Christ. In His name we pray, Amen.

January marked the annual March for Life!
Held Friday, January 24, 2020
What a great turn out for the March for Life this year! Over 50 members of our pastorate left from St. Joseph-on-Carrollton Manor for Washington, DC after prayer and a blessing.
We were all very grateful for the bus provided by Frederick County Right to Life and the Knights of Columbus.
Powerful speakers at the March included survivors of failed abortion attempts. Read their stories here.
Watch their video here.
We were joined by friends from
St. Ignatius, Ijamsville! For additional resources and information:

Thank you to all you supported the Care Net of Frederick Baby Bottle Drive sponsored by the
St. John's Knights of Columbus Council #1622 in January 2020.
Current Drive:
The Knights of Columbus Brute’ Council of Emmitsburg is currently seeking donations to match a grant from the Supreme Council, Knights of Columbus for the purchase of a state-of-the-art color 3D ultrasound machine for Care Net of Frederick Pregnancy Center.
With the advent of the chemical abortion pill which must be taken in months 1-2 to be effective, this technology provides very high definition images that may increase the bonding between the mother and the unborn baby thereby increasing the probability that life will be chosen over abortion.
Make check payable to: KofC Brute Council 1860 – Care Net 2020 Ultrasound.
Mail to: Brute Council Grand Knight Patrick Joy, 4035 Carrick Ct, Emmitsburg, MD 21727

It was a SEA OF BLUE and standing room only in solidarity for LIFE at Maryland LIFE Day 2020! Nearly 70 legislators and staff joined us for lunch with wonderful feedback. Together, we stood opposed to Physician Assisted Suicide and the Abortion Amendment as several parishioners met with staffers from the offices of Delegate Krimm, Lewis-Young, and Kerr, as well as staff from Senator Ron Young's office. We thank Delegates Pippy and Cox and Senator Hough for standing with us for Life!

Here is one of the 5 great talks he gave on this seriously flawed Maryland bill. We cannot allow this bill to pass as it would most likely lead to Legalized Euthanasia. Here is a link to the talk: https://vimeo.com/videographybyjimalthoff/pasjack |
